Chicory
Over-care for othersPossessiveness, love with strings
Step 1 · State (recognise)
You give a great deal and care closely for others, yet in relationship you often feel let down or unseen.
Step 2 · Allow (the core)
I allow my giving to be free, without needing something back for it.
Step 3 · Back to the body
Notice your chest or upper arms. The body is touching, the body is breathing.
If you'd like the body to hold this state more easily, this is a good place to start.

In depth
【Emotional signature】
Chicory often shows up in people who invest deeply and feel relationships strongly. You may express love through caring, giving and attention — and feel hurt or bereft when it isn't answered. This isn't keeping score. It's a deep wish to be needed, to be connected. When expectation slips quietly inside the giving, both the relationship and the body tend to tighten.
【Through the lens of neuroception】
What this card reflects: the body treats being needed as the ground of safety, so giving carries a pull with it — a wish to hold the relationship firmly in place.
In this state, the body may show:
* A tight, closed feeling in the chest, as though emotion were stuck inside
* Upper arms working, already reaching out to care again
* The body sinking the moment the response falls short
This is not a problem. It is one of the ways the body makes sure connection won't disappear — it just leaves you carrying more.
【How this essence supports you】
The support of Chicory is in returning love to freedom, slowly. It doesn't deny the heart in your giving; it lets the giving travel without grip and without expectation. When the body feels that it's still safe even when it isn't needed, movement in relationship becomes lighter, and a sense of inner fullness comes back on its own.
【Today's practice】
When something in a relationship catches at you, pause first. Let your attention rest lightly on your chest or upper arms. There's no need to change your breathing — just know that the body is breathing. Give the feeling room to be felt, without rushing to do anything about it.
【Working with MUNI Scent】
Press a small amount of MUNI Scent into your palm, or open the bottle near your nose and take three easy breaths of it. Then rest a hand on your chest or upper arm and let scent and touch keep you company, without expecting anything to change.
Smell is the only sense that skips rational analysis and reaches the centres of emotion and memory directly —
let the scent stay with the body as the grip loosens, and giving finds its way back to freedom.
How to work with this
Body awareness here is not about hunting for what hurts,
and not about making the body become something.
It's about choosing a part of the body that is relatively easy to feel,
so attention has somewhere to rest.
This is not for the sake of letting go of expectation,
nor to change the shape of a relationship.
It is simply keeping company with the experience that is happening.
No intervening, no correcting — letting awareness unfold on its own, once it's allowed to.
For practitioners
If you are using this card with a practitioner:
* Keep your voice warm and steady; avoid reminders to "live for yourself"
* Watch for the upper arms releasing, the rise and fall of the chest easing
* You might say: "You don't have to do anything more. You're already in this relationship."
When you use MUNI Scent together:
In a shared scent environment, the body finds it easier to release the pull,
so connection isn't held by gripping — it's simply there.

A great deal of your energy goes into other people or a standard, and you're strict with yourself and with them. If this one doesn't quite match where you are, the others in the same group are worth a look.
