Honeysuckle

Not presentLiving in the past, unable to move on

Step 1 · State (recognise)

You return often to memory, and what is happening now feels at a distance.

Step 2 · Allow (the core)

I allow memory to be here, and keep my attention in this moment.

Step 3 · Back to the body

Notice your back. The body is touching, the body is breathing.

If you'd like the body to hold this state more easily, this is a good place to start.

In depth

【Emotional signature】

Honeysuckle shows up when there is attachment to the past, or a returning again and again in thought. You may go back often to how things were — the good, the regretted, and the fragments of "if only it had gone differently". This isn't being stuck. Something inside is still working through loss, longing, or feeling left unfinished, and the heart rests for now in a familiar place.

【Through the lens of neuroception】

What this card reflects: the body treats the past as relatively safe ground, so it returns to memory and steps briefly away from the uncertainty of now. In this state, the body may show: * The back drawing in slightly, as though gathering inward * A distance from the people and things of the present * The body actually relaxing at the thought of the past This is not a problem. It's one of the ways the body looks for safety — it just makes the present blurry.

【How this essence supports you】

The support of Honeysuckle is in gently keeping you company back to this moment. It doesn't ask you to put down the memory, and it doesn't deny that the past mattered. It lets the body slowly feel that now can be carried too. When the present becomes felt again, time begins to move forward on its own.

【Today's practice】

Find something to lean against; sitting or standing both work. Let your attention rest lightly on the contact between your back and what supports it. There's no need to change your breathing — just know that the body is breathing. Let this moment be felt, without having to leave the memory.

【Working with MUNI Scent】

Press a small amount of MUNI Scent into your palm, or open the bottle near your nose and take three easy breaths of it. Then rest a hand on your back or near your spine and let scent and touch keep you company, without expecting anything to change. Smell is the only sense that skips rational analysis and reaches the centres of emotion and memory directly — let the scent be a gentle cue back to now, moving with the body slowly forward.

How to work with this

Body awareness here is not about hunting for what hurts, and not about making the body become something. It's about choosing a part of the body that is relatively easy to feel, so attention has somewhere to rest. This is not for the sake of leaving the past, nor to force yourself onward. It is simply keeping company with the experience that is happening. No intervening, no correcting — letting awareness unfold on its own, once it's allowed to.

For practitioners

If you are using this card with a practitioner: * Keep your voice warm and respectful; avoid "that's all in the past" * Watch for the back releasing, the body leaning into support, the breath slowing * You might say: "The memory can be here. So can now." When you use MUNI Scent together: In a shared scent environment, the body finds it easier to hold past and present at once, so time stops catching, and begins to move.
