Rescue A (acute state)
Step 1 · State (recognise)
You are in the middle of sudden pressure, shock or chaos, with emotion, thought and body all pulled high at once.
Step 2 · Allow (the core)
I allow this moment to be held, without having to deal with it now.
Step 3 · Back to the body
Notice your breath or your feet. The body is touching, the body is breathing.
In depth
【Emotional signature】
Rescue A is for sudden, acute or highly chaotic moments. There may be no time to understand what happened; emotion, thought and physical reaction surge together and nothing will steady. This isn't losing control. It's the natural response of a system overloaded in an instant, and what it needs isn't explanation — it's to be caught first.
【Through the lens of neuroception】
What this card reflects: sensing intense threat or pressure, the body switches defence on across the board and temporarily shuts down analysis and integration.
In this state, the body may show:
* Breath running fast, or catching
* Feet losing their grounding, as if you can't stand steady
* Scattered thinking; focus out of reach
This is not a problem. The body is protecting you with everything it has, and what matters most right now is bringing the system down in speed.
【How this essence supports you】
The support of Rescue A is in offering an immediate sense of being caught. It doesn't ask you to make sense of the experience, and it doesn't need you to calm down. It lets the body know first: it is safe now. Once that catching happens, there is room for everything that comes after.
【Today's practice】
In the middle of chaos or shock, put your attention on your breath or your feet. Feel the in-breath, the out-breath, the contact between your feet and the ground. No decisions are needed — just come back to this moment.
【Working with MUNI Scent】
Press a small amount of MUNI Scent into your palm, or open the bottle near your nose and take three easy breaths of it. Let the scent be an anchor, walking the body slowly back to now.
Smell is the only sense that skips rational analysis and reaches the centres of emotion and memory directly —
in the chaos, let the scent be a signal saying: I am still here.
How to work with this
Body awareness here is not about hunting for what hurts,
and not about making the body become something.
It's about choosing a part of the body that is relatively easy to feel,
so attention has somewhere to rest.
This is not for the sake of understanding what happened,
nor to get back to normal immediately.
It is simply keeping company with the experience that is happening.
No intervening, no correcting — letting awareness unfold on its own, once it's allowed to.
For practitioners
If you are using this card with a practitioner:
* Keep your voice low, clear and steady; avoid questions and analysis
* Watch for the breath slowing, the feet finding the floor, the gaze returning to the room
* You might say: "Nothing needs thinking about now. I'm here."
When you use MUNI Scent together:
In a shared scent environment, the body finds it easier to come down quickly,
so safety doesn't travel through language — it's felt directly.
