Willow

Despondency and despairResentment, feeling wronged

Step 1 · State (recognise)

Things feel unfair; you feel overlooked, hard done by, and a resentment builds that you can't quite say out loud.

Step 2 · Allow (the core)

I allow my hand to open, without gripping the grievance.

Step 3 · Back to the body

Notice your belly or your legs. The body is touching, the body is breathing.

If you'd like the body to hold this state more easily, this is a good place to start.

In depth

【Emotional signature】

Willow shows up when you feel short-changed, overlooked, or dealt an unfair hand. You may go back over the moments of not being understood or not being treated well, with "why me?" surfacing inside. This isn't small-mindedness. It's grief that hasn't yet been received, turned for now into resentment, which helps you carry the weight inside.

【Through the lens of neuroception】

What this card reflects: the body holds on to the sense of unfairness as a way of protecting itself, so the boundary isn't crossed again. In this state, the body may show: * Tightness in the belly, as if drawing the hurt inward * Legs working, ready at any moment to hold yourself up * Emotion rising the instant the past experience comes to mind This is not a problem. The body is making sure you won't be overlooked again — it just keeps the weight inside you.

【How this essence supports you】

The support of Willow is in slowly bringing power back to you. It doesn't ask you to forgive or drop the resentment now. It lets the body gradually feel that the authority is still yours. When strength returns to you, the resentment loosens on its own and becomes a steadier ground to stand on.

【Today's practice】

When the hurt or grievance surfaces, pause first. Let your attention rest lightly on your belly or your legs. There's no need to change your breathing — just know that the body is breathing. Let the weight travel slowly back to the ground, without having to talk yourself into anything.

【Working with MUNI Scent】

Press a small amount of MUNI Scent into your palm, or open the bottle near your nose and take three easy breaths of it. Then rest a hand on your belly or thigh and let scent and touch keep you company, without expecting anything to change. Smell is the only sense that skips rational analysis and reaches the centres of emotion and memory directly — let the scent be a road back to your own strength, rather than a place to stay in opposition.

How to work with this

Body awareness here is not about hunting for what hurts, and not about making the body become something. It's about choosing a part of the body that is relatively easy to feel, so attention has somewhere to rest. This is not for the sake of settling right and wrong, nor to forgive or forget. It is simply keeping company with the experience that is happening. No intervening, no correcting — letting awareness unfold on its own, once it's allowed to.

For practitioners

If you are using this card with a practitioner: * Keep your voice respectful and steady; avoid assessing whether the grievance is warranted * Watch for the belly releasing, the weight of the legs returning to the ground * You might say: "You don't have to prove anything. The strength is with you." When you use MUNI Scent together: In a shared scent environment, the body finds it easier to move from opposition into steadiness, so the boundary isn't held by resentment — it comes from standing in yourself.
